Janina Moszynski 1935-2026

Janina Moszynski passed away peacefully on June 5, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 20, 1935, in Stasziców, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Maria (Dobrowolska) and Ignacy Czarniecki.

During World War II, Janina and her family endured great hardship as refugees, having been deported to Siberia. From there, they journeyed through several countries in the Middle East before eventually settling in England, and later emigrating to the United States in search of a better life.


Janina’s life was centered on her family. She found great joy in preparing meals for gatherings, especially her beloved Polish dishes, tending to her gardens, and caring for her cherished flowers. Those who visited her were always welcomed with warm company, heartfelt hospitality, and a delicious homecooked meal. In addition to raising her family, she held various jobs throughout her life, consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to building a better future for her children.


Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her children George (Mary) Moszynski, Andrew (Diane) Moszynski, Anna (Scott) Gregg, Donna (Todd) Galpin and daughter-in-law, Anne Moszynski.

She was a cherished grandmother to Matthew, Joshua (Anastasia) Gregg; Lindsey (Jason) Bowen; Michael Moszynski; Tyler and Paige Galpin; Emily and Stephen Moszynski; Peter Moszynski; Billy (Erica) Mohr; Jenny (Scott) Grochowski along with many nieces and nephews.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lowell and Althea Rose Gregg, Olivia and Emma Bowen, Nathan Mohr, Michael and Miranda Grochowski.


Janina was predeceased by her husband, Kazimierz; her sons, Charlie and Eugene (“Googs”). Her grandsons, Thomas Moszynski, Jacob Gregg, James Mohr. Her brothers Adam and Joseph Czarniecki, Sisters Agnes Trela, Stefania Szopa and Bronislawa Szopa.

Janina will be remembered for her strength, resilience, deep love for her family, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Adam Garretson for his care and kindness and to VNA /Hospice of CDH.


Calling hours will be held on Friday June 12th from 5-7PM at Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton, Janina's funeral will be held on Saturday June 13th beginning at 9AM from the Boucher- O’Brien Funeral Home, with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Valley Parish at 10 AM, her burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton.
