Paul W. Munro 1942-2026

Paul W. Munro, 84, of West Springfield, passed away on September 29, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center. Born on August 5, 1942, Paul was the beloved son of Duncan Munro and Elizabeth (Callahan) Munro.
Paul grew up with a strong Catholic faith, a foundation that shaped his values, his kindness, and the way he treated others throughout his life. He proudly worked for many years for the Sisters of Providence, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and the gentle compassion he brought to his work each day. His colleagues and friends remember him as someone who showed up with a steady presence and a generous spirit.
A lifelong sports fan, Paul loved watching and talking sports—especially when it involved his favorite teams: the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Hartford Whalers, Springfield hockey, Boston Celtics, UCONN Women’s Basketball, NE Patriots, and various College football teams. Whether celebrating a win or debating a tough loss, Paul enjoyed every moment of being part of the sports world he loved.
His greatest passion, though, was auto racing. He loved stock car and NASCAR racing and spent countless hours at tracks especially Riverside Speedway, where he found joy not only in the thrill of the races but also in photographing the cars, the drivers, and the energy of the track. His camera was never far from his side, and he captured moments that reflected both the excitement of racing and his appreciation for the community around it.
Paul is survived by his brother Don Munro and his wife Marie of Enfield, CT; his son Gregg Munro of Texas; his daughters Lisa Munro of Agawam and Denise Chaisson and her husband Brian of West Springfield. He was a proud grandfather to Carson and Carmen Munro, and Jocelyn and Ethan Chaisson, great‑grandfather to Derek Munro
He also leaves behind his beloved niece Karen and nephew Chris, along with their loving families, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Nothing gave Paul more joy than time spent with Jocelyn and Ethan—playing UNO, watching movies and sports together, or cheering them on in their activities. Those simple, happy moments were the heart of his days, and they will be cherished forever by the grandchildren who adored him.
Paul’s life was defined by faith, family, loyalty, and simple joys. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the values he passed down, and the love he shared so freely.
Visiting hour will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 10 to 11 AM at Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant Street, Easthampton, MA. A Funeral Home Prayer Service will start at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery 420 Kings Highway, West Springfield, MA.
