Easthampton, MA — Cecile M. (Desjardins) Young, 100, returned home to the Lord on the eve of Thanksgiving, November 24, 2021, she was living at Mount Marie in Holyoke. Born on May 21, 1921, in Chicopee, she was the daughter of Silvio and Blanche (Lavigne) Desjardins. She grew up in Holyoke. She was married for 61 years to Lawrence J. Young he passed away in 2002, they were members of the former Notre Dame Church in Easthampton.
She had several part-time jobs, prior to marriage she worked at National Blank Book Co. in Holyoke, then after marriage in housewares at McCallum's, in Northampton, and also at the Terry Club in Easthampton. She was a very talented seamstress, she would make her own drapes, clothes and any other items anyone in the family would need. Ceil was the life of the party, she loved social events and enjoyed life to the fullest even sometimes having a glass of scotch. The secret to attaining her many years of life was her love for cosmetics that would keep her looking young. Larry and Ceil loved to dance and roller skate dance, they helped out at the Hal Lally Dance Studio in Holyoke assisting with the lessons.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter Barbara Young of Easthampton, her granddaughter Lisa Teal of Southampton and her grandson Michael Perrier and his wife Tina of Westfield. She was a great Grandmother to Caitlin Malinowski and husband Justin of Holyoke as well as Kevin Perrier and wife Amy of Huntington. Ceil was a Great Great-grandmother to Khloe, Harper and Brody. She leaves many Nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lorraine Desjardins and Brother Vincent Gemme both of Chicopee.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Keith & Judy Lenkowski for always being there for Ceil.
Her calling hours will be held Wednesday morning beginning at 9 AM to 11 AM at the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St. Easthampton, with a Prayer Service at 11 AM in the funeral home, her burial will follow in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery all in Easthampton.
