David Francis O’Brien, 71, of Easthampton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, surrounded by his granddaughter Sarah and his son Christopher.
David was born on May 12, 1954, in New York and was a longtime resident of Easthampton, where he raised his family and built a life full of love and memories.
David leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever live on in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher O’Brien and David O’Brien and his wife Kerry O’Brien; and his four beloved granddaughters, Sarah O’Brien, Madison O’Brien, Shelby O’Brien, and Hayley O’Brien. He is also survived by his brother, Ken O’Brien, and his nephews, Mike O’Brien and Jack O’Brien.
David was predeceased by his father John O’Brien and his mother Elaine Parent O’Brien.
David has found peace and is now reunited with his beloved wife of 50 years, Karen O’Brien, and his sister, Patricia O’Brien.
With the loving care of his granddaughter Sarah, his granddaughter Madison, and his son Christopher, David was able to live a beautiful and well-cared-for life over the past two years following Karen’s passing. David always put his family first and deeply cared for his sons and grandchildren, always wanting what was best for them. David had a special place in his heart for Sarah who did everything she could for David.
While his family is heartbroken, they find comfort in knowing David is finally reunited with his beloved wife, Karen, in heaven.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to David’s nurse, Carrie, for the love, compassion, and support she provided over the past year. They shared a special bond, and David felt deeply comfortable and cared for in her presence. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Mercy LIFE PACE and Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts for their care and support during David’s final days.
David was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May he find eternal peace and rest. The family will be holding a private service at a later time. Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton is assisting the family.
