Dorothy L. (Sanderson) Nelson, 97 of Worthington, MA, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019, after a stay at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility. She was born on August 21, 1922, in Worthington to William F. and Marion L. (Fox) Sanderson. Dorothy was a graduate of Huntington High School and was employed after graduation by the Baldwin Family of East Longmeadow, and later by the Nathaniel Glidden family at Denworth Farm in Worthington. Following that employment “Dot” worked as a valued employee in the Corners Grocery in Worthington until she retired in her early 90's.
Dorothy was pre-deceased by her parents and two siblings Shirley M. (Sanderson) Packard and William Sanderson, Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Richard A. Sanderson Sr. and his wife Jacqueline L. Carll of Canastota NY, her sister-in-law, Jenny Sanderson of Orange MA as well as by numerous beloved nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, New York, and Tennessee, including niece Sharon Packard a special treasure to Dot during her time in extended care. Dorothy requested that there be no services, and a private burial was held August 19 2021, in Ringville Cemetery in Worthington.
Boucher - O'Brien Funeral Home was entrusted with her cremation.
