Florence “Flossie” (Knihnicki) Droy, 91, departed this world peacefully on Sunday, June 30.
Florence was born on a small farm in Amherst, MA. She was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Leko) Knihnicki. She was a graduate of Amherst High School class of 1950.
She married Peter P. Droy in August 1954 and they moved to New Jersey while Peter served in the Army at Fort Dix.
Peter and ‘Flossie’ bought their home and settled in Easthampton in 1958.
Florence worked the night shift at Pro-Brush, then as a real estate agent with Murphy Realtors before taking a job as a call center agent for BayBank/Bank of America, from which she retired and then traveled extensively. She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church and now Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.
After Peter died in 2003, Florence moved to Southampton.
Florence is survived by her son and his wife, Mark and Karen Droy of Southampton, daughters Deborah Droy of Florence and Karen Droy of Palmer, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her 5 brothers and sisters: Edwin, Richard, Eleanor, Helen and Irene, and her granddaughter Tara.
Her funeral will be on Friday July 5th, from the Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home 9:30 – 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Valley Church at 11 AM. Private burial will follow for family.
