Jean Elder Bush, 83 of Montgomery Mass, passed away peacefully after a courageous but short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Westfield MA. on December 2, 1941 to John L Elder and Dorothy Moon Elder. She lived in Littleville, until the government forced evacuation of all residents, in order to make way for flood zoning at the current Littleville Lake location. She graduated from Chester High School and soon married her high school sweetheart, Curtis. in June of 1960, and in 1962 they settled together in Montgomery and raised a family.

Jean stayed home and cared for her children, while also running the administrative duties of the family business for 41 years.

Some of jeans’ most favorite hobbies were cooking, camping, ocean and ice fishing. She always caught the biggest and most fish. She would go anywhere her husband would go, rough waters of the ocean, car shows in the hot sun, cold winters up north hunting, and trips to “camp”. She loved Vermont. Bluegrass festivals were also a great joy for her. As she got older and less mobile, researching her ancestry became a big part of her life. She knew Littleville history well, she lived it. Her research reacquainted her with a lot of friends from Littleville. Feeding and watching the wild birds also was enjoyable.

She leaves a son, Curtis Jr and his wife Melissa of Montgomery, a daughter Brenda Carrington and her husband Guy, of Guilford VT, 2 grandchildren, Tanner Bush of Milll Run PA and Autumn Hamblin of Montgomery Ma. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Curtis Sr, a brother John, (Jackie) and 2 sisters.

There will be no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to attend her graveside service held at Center Cemetery, Russell Rd., Montgomery on Saturday July 12, 2025 at 10AM. Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton was entrusted with her care.

Donations in Jeans memory may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, Chester Historical Society, or your local animal shelter for prevention of cruelty to animals
