Michael J. Lawnicki, 71, of South Hadley, MA, and formerly of Easthampton, MA, passed away on August 18, 2026 in Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Jane (Bagdonas) Lawnicki for twenty-two years. Born in Northampton, MA, he was the son of the late Stanley and Barbara (Noble) Lawnicki.
Mike was a 1973 graduate of Easthampton High School. He worked as a fork lift operator for University Products, Holyoke and previously worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Westfield. Mike enjoyed fishing, hiking with his dogs, and Boston sports, especially the Patriots. He took great pride in his yard and home, where he loved relaxing and spending quality time in his pavilion with his wife Jane. He liked listening to music and riding his bike. Mike was always quick with a joke and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
He was devoted to his grandsons, and could often be found attending their sporting events to root them on or help work the concession stand. Mike especially appreciated time with his great granddaughters, whom he referred to as "Pop's Angels".
Along with his wife, Jane, he is survived by their daughter Tracie Santiago and her husband Gerald of Chicopee; his sisters, Susan Sicard, of Maitland, FL, and Cindi Noble, of Chepachet, RI; his grandsons, Sam Moser and his wife Olivia and Marcus Santiago and his wife Christine; and his great-granddaughters, Sylvie, Rooney and Lilith; his Pup, Milly; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Hank Lawnicki and his little buddy Donald Hounshell Jr.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2-4PM in the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St.., Easthampton followed by a service at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dakin Humane Society, PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101.
