Robert E. Kowal, 80, passed away on November 3, 2021 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after a short illness. Born in Northampton on June 20, 1941, he was the son of Edward and Grace (Brakney) Kowal. Bob grew up in Northampton was a graduate of Northampton High School after that, in college he received his accounting degree and also attained the title of Certified Public Accountant. Early on he worked in South Hadley for Texon, then after worked for the Catholic School System in Easthampton as the cafeteria director.
He enjoyed being a security guard at the Loomis House in Holyoke and was the former owner-operator of Pioneer Valley Stamp Company.
Bob and Eileen F (Riel) Kowal have shared over 56 happy years together, they were both members of the Pulaski club in Easthampton where Bob was often found being the caller for bingo. He also enjoyed spending time with his son, coaching little league baseball. Bob enjoyed traveling to three Rivers to Pulaski Park where both he and his wife spent many summer afternoons listening to the local area polka bands.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife Eileen. His son Robert Kowal, Jr. and Pauline LaValley of Eastampton. His four grandchildren; Robert Kowal, III and Jennifer Roy of Easthampton, Kristina Kowal of Turners Falls, Timothy Kowal and Amber Kowal of Greenfield.
Friends and family are invited to Bob’s funeral on Friday morning at 9 AM beginning from the Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St. Easthampton, a funeral mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Valley Church and burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 2 to 4 PM.
