Sidney R. Lancto

Sidney R. Lancto passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at home. Sidney was born to William and Aida Longto (later changed to Lancto) in October 1938. He was born and raised in Easthampton, Massachusetts, and lived most of his life there.

Sidney served in the U.S. Air Force in his younger years, worked for several companies as a salesperson, including Fuller Brush Co., and went on to spend over 30 years working for and managing Jonathan Reid men's clothing stores in the Holyoke and Hampshire Malls. During his tenure he mentored many employees that he was especially proud and fond of. Sidney retired in 2012 but maintained friendships with many of those he mentored.

He loved music, dance, movies, and entertainment — so along the way, he also taught dance at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. He loved sports and really enjoyed following current players who possessed a strong work ethic and played the game "the right way."

Sidney will be remembered by many as being sociable and entertaining. He was extremely thoughtful and cared deeply about everyone — and he wasn't afraid to show his appreciation for his family, friends, customers and colleagues. Those who knew him well will also remember him for his quirky sense of humor, his generosity, his loyalty, and his FAITH in the Lord.

Sidney leaves behind siblings, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and even more great-nieces and nephews, along with some very special friends. He will be greatly missed by many.

Sids Funeral will be on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 9AM at Boucher O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St, Easthampton. Followed by his Funeral Mass at 11AM at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams St, Easthampton followed by his burial at St. Brigid's Cemetery, 91 Everett St, Easthampton.
