David M O'Donnell, 81, of Easthampton, passed away on March 21, 2021, at home.
Born in Springfield he was the son of the late James A and Josephine V (Rutkowski) O'Donnell.
David proudly served his country during Vietnam in the United States Navy for 22 years achieving a rank of Master Chief Petty Officer.
After his service in the Navy he was a Nuclear Health Physics instructor working at Yankee Atomic in Rowe. He was a graduate of St Michael's High School in Northampton and De Anza college in California.
David leaves his five children whom he would do anything he could for; Two sons, Dennis O'Donnell and his wife, Sharon, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Brian O'Donnell and his wife, Meghan, of Southampton; three daughters, Elizabeth O'Donnell of Easthampton, Cathleen O'Donnell-Davis and her husband, Darrell, of Bristol, Conn., and Mary-Jo O. Cestola and her husband, Robert, of Southampton, as well as six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition, he leaves one brother, Michael P. O'Donnell and his wife Sharlene of Florida and a sister, M. Joyce O'Donnell and her partner Vicki Petrick of New York. David is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Catherine M. (Ivory) O'Donnell.
A private Burial with military honors took place at Agawam Military Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton was entrusted with his service.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, America Cancer Association or DAV - Disabled American Veterans.
