Francis Charles McClellan, 86, passed away on March 1, 2026, at his home peacefully in his sleep. Francis was born on January 11, 1940, in Northampton, MA. The son of Charles and Bertha (Labarge) McClellan, he was raised in Leeds and graduated from Northampton High School. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army from 1959-1963 as an electrician in Korea and a test monitor for the Atlas missile program at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. Upon discharge from the military, he trained as a land surveyor at Huntley Land Surveying in Northampton. He soon met his beloved wife, Carol Ann McClellan (1942-2022), raised four children, and was happily married for 59 years. He worked as a polisher at the Smith & Wesson Factory in Springfield and later returned to his passion as a land surveyor with Heritage Land Surveying, Inc., until retiring in Easthampton. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement life building model airplanes and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He particularly liked to travel to his log cabin near the town of Malone in upstate New York, where he spent many weekends with family and friends taking in the beauty of the outdoors. He will always be remembered as “Mac” or “Daddy Mac” to those who will cherish the fond memories they spent with him throughout the years. His family and friends take solace in that he lived a full and happy life and had so much to be proud of with the legacy he and Carol left behind. Mac was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He leaves his daughter Lisa Boyle and husband David of Easthampton, MA; his son Steven McClellan and wife Maria of Westerly, RI; his daughter Laura Dolan and husband Joseph of Westford, MA; his son Scott McClellan and wife Heather of London, UK; and his sister Susan McClellan of Florence and brother Alan McClellan of Leeds. He also leaves his ten cherished grandchildren and one great grandchild, with whom he was very involved and dearly loved: Jeremy, Corey, Tierney, and Ely Boyle; Kevin and Meghan McClellan; Caroline and Jason Dolan; Jack and Theodore McClellan; and Owen Boyle, along with his devoted caregiver, Charity Waiyaki, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends he treasured.
Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton has been entrusted with his services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton, MA.
