Joan L. Fydenkevez 1942-2026

Joan L. Fydenkevez, 84, passed away on March 15,2026 at the Care One Skilled Nursing Facility in Northampton surrounded by her loved ones. Joan was the daughter of Bruno and Blanche Kowalczyk. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Easthampton High School. She married and had three children. She worked at Tubed Products in Easthampton for 28 years as a work leader.

Joan was a devoted wife and mother. She supported her children as they grew up volunteering at their various interests. You could find her at all their sporting events, in the rain and snow. She was always a chaperone for various school, sports and Girl Scout trips and helped with fundraisers. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Parish. Joan loved the outdoors and was an avid tent camper and planned many outdoor adventures for her family at campgrounds around New England.

She called herself our Matriarch, but her most cherished title was GMA. Her love and support of her four grandchildren was unwavering even as her health declined. The four grandchildren loved spending time at her house for unplanned sleepovers. She loved to watch WWE events at wrestling parties and talk RED SOX baseball with her grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren dearly and will always hold a special place in their hearts. GMA lived long enough to welcome her great-grandson Elliot to the family who brought sunshine into her heart.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Henry Fydenkevez and her sons Richard and Donald and her sister Delores Perfito. She leaves behind her daughter Pamela Fydenkevez and her husband Fred Baker. Four grandchildren, Ian Baker and his life partner Keri Ann Aubin, Ryan Baker, Patrick Baker and his fiancée Katie Houle and Dana Baker and her fiancé Patrick Menard and their son Elliot Menard. She is also survived by her loving sister Christine Carbonneau and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday March 25, at Boucher - O’ Brien funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St Eastampton from 9- 10:30AM, with a prayer service at 10:30 followed by her burial in St. Brigid Cemetery in Easthampton.
