Phillip F. Vogel 1932 - 2026

Phillip F. Vogel passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, on his beloved wife Barbara's birthday.  Phillip was born on October 27, 1932, in Springfield to the late Philip Frederick Vogel and Mathilda (Keinath) Vogel. Predeceased by his Wife Barbara,  Brothers Karl and George, and Sister Marlene.   He grew up in West Springfield and graduated from West Springfield High School.

Phillip met the love of his life Barbara just before he joined the service. He served in the Army from 1954-1956. When he returned home, he and Barbara married on September 14, 1957, they had been married for 67 years. He worked  at Agway for 42 years serving the greater New England area. 

Phillip was a devoted husband and father; they moved from Easthampton to Southampton in 1962 where they raised their two daughters. He and his wife Barbara loved to travel, they enjoyed ballroom and square dancing.  Phillip loved  being outdoors; gardening, using his wood splitter and chainsaw, bird watching.  He loved to repair things and helped everyone around him. He was known for his firm handshake and jokes.

He will be missed deeply by his daughters, Anne Tyler and her husband Marty of Westfield, Susan Knight and her husband Robert of Westfield, his brother, John Vogel, and his wife Betty of Southampton, along with his beloved grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pucka”; Makayla and Ian Bailey, Gabrielle and Maximillian Marie, Blake Tyler and Hannah, Jacob Knight and Savannah, Ashley Knight, Jordan Knight,  and great grandchild Amani Knight.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 9 AM with a Prayer Service at 10AM at the Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home ,7 Pleasant St. Easthampton, his burial  with Military Honors will follow in Southampton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Southampton Fire Department.
