Ronald Maurice Campbell 1955-2024



Ronald Maurice Campbell, passed away at his home in Amherst, MA, just hours shy of his 69th birthday. Born in Holyoke on October 27, 1955, he was the son of Maurice and Claire (Gagnon) Campbell. Ron grew up in Easthampton for the first six years of his life until he was placed at Belchertown State School, where he lived for 10 years. He returned to Easthampton to live in the first Community Homes for Children in Massachusetts, an initiative that was spearheaded and founded by his parents with two other sets of parents in the early 1970s. For the past 30 years, Ron lived with his long-term care provider, Tom Joyce, in Amherst. He enjoyed boating, flying in small planes, riding his tandem recumbent bicycle, and being in the great outdoors.


Ron leaves his: sister Cheryl Campbell and her husband James Levine of Granby, MA; brother John Campbell and his wife Tracy Campbell of RI; brother Scott Campbell in Zambia, Southern Africa; brother Mark Campbell and his wife Catherine Campbell of RI; and seven nieces and nephews.


A Calling hour will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 9AM at Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton. A funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of the Valley Parish at 10AM, with his burial to follow in St. Brigid’s Cemetery.
