Scott Edward “Scooter” Young


Scott Edward “Scooter” Young died unexpectedly at his home in Easthampton on Tuesday, May 18 at the age of 64. Scott is survived by his brothers, Jeffrie (Maryann) Young of Chesterfield and Marc (Cathy) Young of Easthampton; his longtime friend and caretaker, Chris Barcomb of Easthampton; his faithful four-legged friend, Mellow; his nieces Jennifer (Brendan) McCarthy of Easthampton, Beth (Katie Leach) Young of Westfield; his nephews Tim (Dawn) Young and Dan Young of Easthampton; his great-nieces and nephews Casey, Jacqui, Shelby, TJ, Jeffrie, Liam, Olivia and Jorjia.


He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph, and Ines Young. Scott was born on January 21, 1957 to Joseph and Ines Young. He attended Easthampton Public Schools. Scott began working for Fitzwilly’s in the mid-seventies and worked there for over 30 years.


Scott was an accomplished chef and loved cooking for his family and friends. He was a dedicated individual who loved helping others, always putting them before himself. Scott was an avid traveler, and went on many adventures with his close friend, Michael Jones, favoring beaches in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Provincetown, and Rye, New Hampshire. Scott was also an avid car enthusiast. Scott was always the life of the party and enjoyed a wide variety of music.


Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Boucher – O’Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton has been entrusted with his services.
