Paul “Butch” A. Blanchette, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, after a brief stay at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Paul was born in Holyoke on October 25, 1943, son of the late Leo and Aurore (Guimond) Blanchette, where he graduated from Holyoke High School in 1961. Paul enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1964 where he trained at Parris Island with Platoon 266. He served in the Marine Corps for 6 years. From 1977-1980, he served in the Air National Guard out of Barnes Airport. In 1969, Paul began a 30-year career with Holyoke Gas and Electric, retiring in 1999. He loved spending time with family, especially his beloved wife of 56 years, Kathleen (Griffin), who he now joins in eternal rest. Together they enjoyed playing cards and Keno, doing puzzles, going on cruises, and visiting casinos. Paul leaves behind two daughters, Lori Carey of Chesterfield and Jennifer Blanchette of Easthampton; grandchildren Meaghan & Dakota Allen and John Carey; brother-in-law Jack Griffin and his wife Karen of Holyoke; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Ilene, and her husband Sam Seymour, and his son-in-law, William Carey, in addition to his beloved wife Kathleen. Paul’s family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 2nd from 2:30-5:30pm at Paisano’s Restaurant in Southampton.
