Westfield, MA — Suzanne Frances Lalonde/Soliwoda peacefully journeyed to Heaven on August 17, 2025. She was 63 years young having been born May 18, 1962 in Granby Massachusetts where she was raised. She graduated high school in 1980; Holyoke Community College in 1982 and Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 1987. Her main focus was photography.
She met the love of her life Stephen Francis Soliwoda in 1981 while they both were enrolled in a history class at Holyoke Community College in 1981 and they became good friends. They started dating in 1994 while helping Fr. James McCurry of St. Hyacinth College and Seminary in Granby Mass to prepare an Our Lady of Guadeloupe weekend retreat for young adults.
Sue and Steve were married July 28, 1995. They had a son, Matthew Francis Soliwoda, born July 28, 1997. Tragically, Stephen died of a massive heart attack on September 17, 1998 at the young age of 36. Sue raised Matt as a fulltime mother and homemaker. Matt ended up following in his mother's footsteps capturing absolutely amazing photographic images of wildlife; especially birds. His work can be seen on his own website; mattsoliwodagallery.com
Suzanne is also predeceased by both her and Stephen's parents. Suzanne leaves behind her 8 surviving siblings and their children; David and Sandy from Hampden, Paul and Tina from Amherst, Lee and Nancy from Granby, Joan from Yuma Arizona, Marie from Holyoke, Ernest and Sandy from Granby, Eric and Judy from Chicopee, Kevin from West Springfield.
She also leaves behind her late husband's siblings and their children; Sophie and James Adamski from Southampton, Paul from Florence, Christine and Phillip Laprade from Southampton, Mary Richi from South Hadley, Jane Dolinski from Holyoke, Robert from Northampton.
Her Funeral will be at Boucher – O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St. Easthampton on Wednesday August 27, starting at 9AM with a prayer service at 10AM followed by her burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Easthampton.
